I've been seeing the word treason being thrown around a lot on some of the right wing blogs I read. They say that people who want to end the war and bring the soldiers home are committing treason. What could possibly be more treasonous than sending Americans to die for a lie?
"An idealist is one who, on noticing that a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make better soup." H. L. Mencken
"It is unacceptable to think." -- George W. Bush 9/15/2006
“My earlier views of the unsoundness of the Christian scheme of salvation and the human origin of the scriptures, have become clearer and stronger with advancing years and I see no reason for thinking I shall ever change them.” - Abraham Lincoln
The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. - Einstein
The History...
The Hell Fire Club was a name commonly used to refer to a group that was founded in England in the 1740’s by Francis Dashwood, whose members were aristocratic freethinkers. It was the common misconception of the day that the members of the club were devil worshipers, but in reality they were a group of men who openly mocked religion and were advocates of free thought. Since then Hell Fire clubs have had many manifestations in many different countries, and are now generally viewed as a group of intellectuals exploring ideas that may differ from the mainstream views of their contemporaries.
